How the Estimate Process Works
The estimate is the foundation of your claim — it's the written record of what was damaged and what it takes to repair it correctly. Here's how it works at our shop.
What to bring
- Your claim number, if you've already filed with an insurer.
- The insurance company's name and your adjuster's contact information, if you have it.
- Your photos from the scene, if you took any.
- The vehicle itself — or let us know if it needs to be towed in.
Don't worry if you're missing some of these. We can start with the vehicle and help you sort out the rest.
What we do
- Inspect and photograph the damage. We document everything visible — dents, paint damage, misaligned panels, and anything that suggests damage beneath the surface.
- Prepare a written estimate. The estimate itemizes parts, labor, and paint work so you and the insurer can see exactly what the repair involves.
- Walk you through it. We explain the estimate in plain language and answer your questions before anything moves forward. You make the calls about your vehicle — we don't pressure you into repairs.
Your estimate vs. the adjuster's estimate
The insurance company usually prepares its own estimate, either from photos or from an in-person inspection. It's normal for the shop's estimate and the insurer's first estimate to differ — the insurer's early estimate is based on what's visible before teardown. When the difference matters, we provide the documentation that supports the complete repair, and if more damage appears during the work, that's handled through a supplement.
